This article is useful for gCast users that have a Parent/Child hierarch, have access to a Parent account in that hierarchy and have assets that they want to share with child accounts.
In this article:
In a gCast Parent/Child hierarchy, parent accounts have the ability to 'Share' various assets to some or all of their child accounts. Sharing assets from one parent account to many child accounts can be a massive time-saver for larger hierarchies. Sharing campaign templates and/or campaigns can be especially useful for businesses that have a specific brand, layout design, and even copy content that they want to maintain for each business unit in their hierarchy.
Sharing an asset does not push or copy the asset to any child account but simply makes that asset visible to child accounts so that they may copy the asset down for re-use in the child account. For more information on 'Copying' assets in gCast, please follow the article links at the end of this article.
Sharing a campaign that the parent account has sent to members of a child account will enable the child account to see the campaign metrics in their own Campaign Manager area. For more information on sending a campaign from a parent account to members in child accounts or on viewing these types of campaigns, please follow the links at the end of this article.
Only a parent account in your hierarchical structure has the ability to share assets. If you have a login to the parent account in your hierarchy then you should be able to see sharing options on various assets.
The assets that you can push down to child accounts in your hierarchy include:
- Demographic categories
- Trackable links
- Image gallery assets
You must be in 'edit' mode on an asset to see the sharing options.
Depending on the type of asset you're editing, the sharing options will be displayed:
Campaign sharing options are located on the 'Status' tab when editing a campaign
Template sharing options are located on the template's edit page when editing a template
Survey sharing options are located on the 'General' tab when editing a survey
Demographic categories' sharing options are located on the 'General' tab when editing a category
Trackable link sharing options are located on the trackable link's edit page when editing a link
Image gallery sharing options are located in the folder options/properties area when viewing the image gallery assets
In the 'Share with sub partners' or 'Sub partners who use this definition...' area select the option that best fits who you want to share the asset with:
- Select the 'Direct sub partners' option to share the asset with only those accounts that sit directly underneath the parent account in your Parent/Child hierarchy (child accounts only, does not include grandchild or great grandchild accounts)
- Select the 'All sub partners' option to share the asset with every single account (except the current parent account) in your Parent/Child hierarchy
- Select the 'Selected' option to cherry-pick the child accounts in your hierarchy that you want to share the asset with
As soon as you save the asset (after selecting the required sharing option), the asset will be shared.
To check that this has worked, navigate to one of the child accounts that should have the asset shared with them and check that it is visible.
